Sociological Aspects of Otherkin

All right, let's see if I can get a discussion going. Let us assume that you wake up one morning and you are now in your trueform, whatever it may be… dragon, gryphon, unicorn, or even furry alien. And furthermore, let us assume (and this is a big assumption) that somewhere down the road your kind has been integrated into human society (just bear with me, o.k?). Now my question is: Based on what you are, how would you deal with the changes in your life compared to what you were before. Now, I don't want you just to say that you'll fly up to the highest mountain and live there, or, I'll fly away to the deepest ocean… That won't do. Sooner or later, you will come into contact with human beings. Some other questions might be: Will I be able to communicate verbally with human beings? Will I be able to enter and exit buildings or will my size prevent this? Will I be able to continue, my education, my job, my friendships? I'd like to know what you think, and any other questions that come to mind.

Let me give you my thoughts: If I changed to a Tereskàdian right now, and let's assume that humans have accepted my species (Hey, Thekherham, how are you? etc. etc.), personally I would find it rather easy to integrate into human society. I would be about six feet tall, weigh a hundred and forty to a hundred and fifty pounds, fox-like, auburn fur, auburn tail with a black tip, walk on my hind legs… I would be able to communicate verbally, I would be able to enter and exit buildings, I'd be able to use the computer, go shopping, go where I want to go…

Now, here is the problem. As most… er, many… some? of you know, I am symbiotically linked with a dragon-like species called a whistling dragon. My whistling dragon, Kykherhenha, is about the size of a horse, and unlike me, she communicates telepathically, and can do so only with me. So the problem is, if Kykherhenha has to be with me at all times, that obviously means that she cannot be with me when I, for example, want to have a nice, juicy, raw chunk of meat at my local restaurant. (Would be o.k. if it is summer and the restaurant has an outdoor area for dining.) But the point is, I would be severely restricted in the manner of being in a building, since I could not leave Kykherhenha outside.

Now, that is just a bit of my thoughts. I want to see what others have to say. And don't be afraid to post what you think on this subject.

Well, i dont know how many times i have thought about this. If i were to turn into say my wolf form or dragon form in front of my family id probably shrug it off and say something like "im not bothered, why should you be"

Well it I were to turn into my pixy demon form I would be fine with it saying that humas exept it I would be about the same size I am now. I don't think I would do anything diffrent of course I don't think my boyfriend would enjoy it very much. my family would be like it was bound to happen, it's what she has always wanted.

On the other hand if I turned into my dragon form I would totaly be cramping my every day life style. I wouldn't even be able to stay at home I would have to go live on a farm with a big barn if I wanted to go indoors. I would be able to talk to everyone I do now it would just make life alot harder.
