I voted "yes, absolutely" ! ^^ how could I live without food ? lol
Simply, my species would swallow great quantities of meat because this food brings a lot of energy.

Food is always important to survive but food isn't always things like animals and such,some can live of energy and such.But that is another kind of foon if thats what they eat.
